L'Ancien is an original lithograph realized by Ferdinand Piloty (d'après M. Shongauer 1806). Test before the Senefelder addresse. Good conditions, on a yellowed paper. Ferdinand Piloty (1785-1840) was a German Lithographer, commonly considered one of the inventors of Lithography. He initially studied painting, but his interests soon switched to lithography. from 1808 to 1815, with Johann Nepomuk Strixner (1782–1855), he produced a series of 423 lithographs, titled Les oeuvres lithographiques par Strixner, Piloty et Comp. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history.
