Circa 1930 framed oil painting on canvas of a young woman in a yellow dress. By Finnish artist Llmari Aalto who was largely known as an expressionist painter who went on into cubism. He was one of three artists who contributed to painting the large landscape 'Koli' at Helsinki central station. Sadly he died young in 1934. The subject is unknown and has a somewhat imperious demeanour. Given her dress and hairstyle and the very definite cubist strokes especially around the head area we would date her to the late 1920s early 1930s. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history.
