First Catch of the Day - Young Fisherman at Sea Figurative oil painting of a young boy out at sea holding a fish on his lap by Bay Area artist Betty (American, 20th C). Frame: 27"H x 21"W Image: 24"H x 18" W Betty studied art at UC Berkeley, the University of Northern Arizona, and the California College of Arts and Crafts where she received her Masters of Fine Arts degree. With a reputation as an outstanding award winning coast artist and painting teacher, Betty's work has been exhibited in Arizona and California, including the De Young Museum, and in a umber of California competitions. Her oil, "Afternoon Stage" took first place in the Historical Division of a recent Art in the Redwoods show, and her entries in other years have been consistent winners. Following her bachelors, she pursued graduate art studies at UC Berkely, the University of Northern Arizona, and the California College of Arts and Crafts, where she received her Master of Fine Arts Degree. She has taught art at secondary schools and, as a member of the faculty, taught the first classes in art history for the College of Alameda. She is currently teaching a class in painting, all media, at The Sea Ranch for the Santa Rosa Junior College District. The work to be featured at The Dolphin will be scenes from Noyo to The Sea Ranch, approximately 50 in all. It will be the first time these new paintings have been on public exhibit.
