Clayton Anderson (American, b. 1943) studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and worked with Ben Kimihira, Waltler Stuempfig, and Hobson Pittman. He is a surrealist painter and a member of the California Visionary Artists Group. Artist’s statement; "Over the years my Geminian nature has led me to develop a number of visually distinctive painting styles. Although the stylistic elements in my art have varied, there has been a unifying factor consistently running through my paintings which reflects a deep love for the unique, spiritual alchemy that arises from the combination of Beauty and Mystery. Since my childhood I've been strongly attracted to creative works which possessed this combination, and I've searched for its unique, potent presence through the vehicle of my art. When Mystery refuses to fully reveal its secrets, the thinking mind temporarily gives up and, for a moment, is quiet. When Beauty is observed the heart expands and presents awareness with an exquisite energy. The combination of a quiet mind and an expanded heart offers the opportunity for an extremely rich human experience, one for which I look daily in my Art and in my Life."
