This is an oil on canvas painting by Danish artist Julius Paulsen titled “Roma” 1920. It appears to depict statues in the heart of Rome, Italy. Painting is signed in the lower left-hand corner. Julius Paulsen (22 October 1860 – 17 February 1940) was a Danish painter. From 1879 to 1882 he studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts where he was later a professor. He had strong connections with several of the Skagen Painters and visited Skagen in the early 1900s. Paulsen was influenced by Rembrandt and French salon art. He is remembered above all for his portraits.
