Roberto Matta (1911-2002) was a Chilean abstract expressionist who had tremendous influence over surrealist and abstract art styles during the 20th century in Europe and the Americas. He was one of Chile’s best known painters, and created new dimensions in art in a blend of organic and cosmic life forms. This color etching with aquatint on Japon Nacre, which is type of paper, is numbered 44/50. This etching is numbered in the left corner and signed in pencil in the right corner.
