Fran Levin - Untitled (Abstract Window), C. 1980s Signed Modernist Watercolor

Chairish

$1,200

A modern watercolor on paper by Michigan artist Fran Levin. Circa 1980s. Hand signed in pencil on the lower right. From a private collection. Dimensions: 37"h x 29.25"w x 1.25" d (framed). In very good condition. This dynamic composition features a geometric arrangement of patterns and translucent color fields that evoke the appearance of stained glass or an architectural window. Rendered in warm tones of amber, burgundy, and teal, the painting demonstrates Levin’s command of watercolor as a medium for both structure and spontaneity. The rhythmic balance of repeating motifs and organic overlays reflects her signature fusion of abstraction and design. Fran Levin is a Troy-based abstract artist whose work reflects a lifelong dedication to creative exploration and expressive form. A graduate of Carnegie Mellon University with a degree in art, Levin began painting in high school in Pittsburgh and went on to develop a distinctive style that blends liquid acrylics, collage, and watercolor techniques. Her paintings often begin with a water-washed surface, allowing colors to organically merge and evolve into layered abstractions. Levin has exhibited at the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center (BBAC) and has been an active member of several art and cultural organizations, including Hadassah, the National Council of Jewish Women, and the Birmingham Society of Women Painters. Her work is celebrated for its intuitive energy and abstract interpretation of emotional and visual experiences.
