François de herain (1877-1962) is a french painter, sculptor and engraver. the drawing depicts a man in a coat and hat holding an umbrella at his side. He is making a gesture with two fingers while displaying a smirk on his face. The author titled it "le vieux cabot" in french. This familiar expression refers to an older man perceived as grumpy, obstinate, or sometimes out of touch with new ideas or trends.
