Purchased directly from the estate of Franz Grosz in Mamaroneck, New York. Franz Grosz was a bit of a 20th Century Renaissance man; he designed and built the family home along with the furniture and built in cabinetry, he was also known as an accomplished potter, photographer and painter. The family resided in comfort in Westchester, NY for many years. Heavy impasto and expressive abstract painting on canvas. Highly textured and lively surface. Grosz has produced a whirlwind of line, surface and color. Stretched and tacked canvas over a wood stretcher. Signed and dated lower left, Grosz, 1957. Good overall condition with some minor surface paint loss due to age and the medium. No visible puncture, holes, rips tears or restorations. Some crazing and craquelure of painted surface. Unframed. The canvas measures approximately .75" deep x 30" wide x 25" high.
