More rare than the tapestries themselves the carton mainly painted in gouache or oil were not meant to be keep and many were destroyed or cut in pieces and reused for other tapestries .A carton is the first step of a tapestry that the weaver would use as exemple , it was painted on paper by sometime extremely famous artist . Longtime not consider as valuable they have not attracted many attention until a museum as been created by Madame Chantal Chirac in Aubusson itself and put them back as pieces of art that they are .The carton we present today is coming from the museum and is representing a very rare style in Aubusson tapestry called indo-chinois that is a mix between chinoiserie and Indian style . Large 91 long on 71 high it present a stunning landscape with numerous of plants , animals and royal court members showing wonderful outfits , notice the splendid borders with plants and Chinese vase , the colors are wonderful and very well preserved . Absolutely splendid this piece is a major piece of art , we have it restored and stabilized on a canevas . For collector of art this piece would fit in a traditional decor but also in a contemporary decor
