His service during World War I included producing charcoal drawings of wartime life, later published and held in public collections including the British Museum. Postwar, his landscapes gained renewed sensitivity; he held a successful solo exhibition at Galerie Poissonnière in 1926 and received the Prix Rosa-Bonheur in 1928. From the 1930s onward, he settled in Normandy, painting rivers, fields, coastlines, and rural life. His works are represented in museum and public collections in France and the UK.
