French "Le Bal Noir" By Jean Auscher, C. 1925 Pochoir Lithograph

Chairish

$468

Original 1925 pochoir lithograph by Jean Auscher (French, 1896–1950) titled " Le Bal Noir," (The Black Ball) from the rare folio "La Faune des Dancings." This expressive scene captures the hypnotic rhythm and sensual energy of a Montmartre dance hall in the heart of Jazz Age Paris. Auscher, known for his incisive depictions of nightlife, executes the scene in lithographic wash with hand-applied pochoir coloring. In the tradition of Toulouse-Lautrec and Christian Bérard, the composition brims with elegance, character, and theatrical tension. Title appears lower left: “Le Bal Noir” Signed in the plate, lower right Custom-framed using archival materials: brushed silver frame, linen-covered mat, and non-glare UV-protective plexiglass.
