Born at Nordlingen, 1817. Died at Munich, 1886. Known for: Bucolic landscape painting. Son and pupil of Johann Michael Voltz. Studied at the Munich Academy and from nature, in the Bavarian Alps. Visited Italy, 1843 - 1845. Member of the Academies at Munich, Berlin and Vienna. Gold Medals, Berlin, 1856, 1861. Wurtemburg Medal for Art. Orders of the Red Eagle and of St. Michael.
