Sketch for The Donkey is an original artwork realized by Gabriele Galantara (Montelupone, 1865 - Roma, 1937) in November 7th, 1909. The sketch was realized for the 45° cover of The Donkey magazine of 07/11/1909. Realized in China ink and watercolour, in good conditions. Gabriele Galantara (1865-1937) was a journalist and one of the leading Italian caricaturists and cartoonists. "The donkey" weekly magazine published in 1892 of which Galantara signed the illustrations, met the favor of the public. The aim of the satire were episodes of political malfeasance. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history.
