Thus, the functionality completes itself forgreater expression”. Paravento Risacca is a window from which toexpand one’s horizons during everyday moments. Made up of threeindividual panels in polyurethane resin, the screen is created by handthrough a series of intricate processes that make each detail unique. Ina celebration of Cassina’s productive excellence, the transparent resinis first poured into a wooden mould and, once solidified, decoratedby hand with various pigmented resins, as if it were the canvas of apainting. With a decorative technique similar to oil painting, the variouslayers of colour are applied, first with a brush and then with a spatula,while the resin thickens, transforming from liquid to a viscous state,a particularly complex transition that must take place quickly, in lessthan ten minutes. During this extremely textural process, each gestureby the artist is impressed in the resin and the various layers overlap,lending a three-dimensional quality that creates the ripples on the sea.The triptych of panels reproduces the sound of the waves through aBluetooth speaker located in one of the six burnished brass bases. Thecorrespondence between the vivid colours and the moving sound of thesea makes it possible to lose oneself in the imaginary world of Pesce.Materials:Polyurethane resin panels.Base in burnished brass.Resin is a material sensitive to heat and ultraviolet light. He studied architecture at the IUAV in Venice, and attended the Venice Institute of Industrial design. At this experimental school, he met Milena Vettore with whom he opened a studio in Padua, founding in 1959 the “N” Group which focussed on with studies in programmed art. He carries out research in the field of kinetic and serial art. He is in the theatre and the cinema, concerned with lighting, movement and sound as means of expression. Since 1962 he has worked in design, experimenting with new materials and unusual shapes. In 1971 he collaborated with BracciodiFerro (in the Cassina group) for the production of certain experimental objects (like Moloch, 1971, a table lamp blown up to the dimensions of an ironic and emblematic item). In 1972 he took part in the famous exhibition “Italy: The New Domestic Landscape” at MoMA in New York, with a dwelling module. Experimentation and irony are also exhibited in his projects for Cassina, amongst which the Tramonto a New York sofa (1980) and the Feltri armchair (1987). After a long period in Paris, he moved to New York in 1983.
