An incredible, geometric oil on canvas by California artist Ernest Noel Posey (1937 - 2007). On a sculpted, matte-black, circular canvas, a union of three gold-bordered, variously-colored hexagons each composed of a dizzying web of unbelievably delicate and precise intersecting lines. A wonderful mix of hard-edge rigidity with vibrating, Kinetic energy; sacred geometry, astrology and atomic elements. Signed, "ENP 120 - 65". An astounding effort by this much-loved and well-regarded California artist. Mr. Posey had over two dozen solo exhibitions of his paintings and mixed media, with work collected by the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the San Jose Museum of Art, the Oakland Museum, the New Orleans Museum of Art, the Santa Barbara Museum of Art & the Achenbach Collection. A native of New Orleans, Mr. Posey lived in New York City before moving to San Francisco, where he taught at the California College of Art and the San Francisco Academy of Art. He moved to Mendocino County in the 1970s, continuing to show his work in San Francisco and Forestville.
