Original watercolor painting by British artist George “Griff” Griffiths, depicting Swinsty Reservoir in Yorkshire. Rendered in soft, atmospheric washes, the panoramic landscape features bare woodland, gently sloping banks, still reflections, and a solitary figure walking with a dog in the distance. Painted on substantial, deckle-edged watercolor paper and signed “Griff” at the lower right. The reverse is handwritten with the title “Swinsty Reservoir,” the artist’s name, and his professional designations, F.S.A.I. and Y.W.S. Presented beneath glass with a finely ruled custom mat in a wood frame with gilt inner molding. A Lauron Gallery label from Ben Rhydding, Ilkley, England remains on the reverse. Measures approximately 20 x 29 inches framed. Griffiths was a trained architectural illustrator who later became a full-time professional artist. A Fellow of the Society of Architectural Illustration, he is recognized for his carefully observed British landscapes, architectural subjects, and scenes of the Yorkshire countryside.
