This is a rare and wonderful deeply embossed gilded dove called “L'Oiseau D’Or” in a beautiful complimentary frame. There is a plaque engraved “G. Braque” mounted on the front. This print is #175 of a series of 250. Like many artists, Braque did not always sign his work and this work is not signed or dated. Because of its design, and subject, it is clearly by Braque. However, because it is unsigned, I have to state it is “after” Georges Braque. There is an old description taped to the back that says: "George Braque (French 1882-1963) L'Oiseau d'Or. Gilt-leaf intaglio (18 karats) after Braque's original jewelry design.” Exterior dimensions: 13 x 11x 1.25 Interior dimensions: 5.75 x 4 x .1
