Giacomo Soffiantino (Turin 1929 - Turin, 2013) He taught at the artistic high school and at the Albertina Academy in Turin. He was a pupil of Francesco Menzio, Aldo Bertini and Mario Caiandri at the Albertina Academy. He made his debut by participating in the exhibition "Seven Turin Painters" in 1955 at the Galleria Girodo in ivrea and then at the Galleria San Matteo in Genoa with the presentation of Enrico Paulucci. In the same year he was present at the exhibition “Nothing new under the sun”, curated by Luigi Carluccio at La Bussola in Turin. In 1956, Luciano Pistoi presented him at the Il Milione gallery in Milan, together with Merz, Ruggeri and Saroni. He participates in the 1956, 1958, 1964 and 1972 editions of the Venice Biennale. Many personal and group exhibitions in Italy and abroad with prestigious awards and prizes. Soon Soffiantino also stands out in the field of engraving: exceptional technical skill is put at the service of solutions that rank high in the panorama not only in Italy. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history.
