Among the promoters, in 1946, of the New Arts Front, in 1952 he participated in the experience of the Group of Eight (Afro, Birolli, Corpora, Moreni, Morlotti, Santomaso, Turcato, Vedova). In 1954 he won the International Painting Prize at the Venice Biennale and over the years he participated in numerous international exhibitions obtaining important recognition. After a neo-cubist debut during the 1960s, Santomaso freed himself from the bonds of informal art to develop a painting made of emotion, spatial suggestions and luminous vibrations.
