Spiaggia detta La Regola is original black and white etching realized by Giuseppe Vasi. Beautiful etching representing a glimpse of Rome. Signed and titled on plate lower margin. Mint condition due to the aged. Includes frame: 26.5 x 0.1 x 35 cm The artwork is from the Series "Delle Magnificenze di Roma antica e moderna", published in 10 volumes from 1747 to 1761. The volumes contain engravings about the city of Rome. Giuseppe Vasi (Corleone,1710 - Rome, 1782) was an engraver, architect, and landscape artist. Between 1746 and 1761, Vasi published 10 volumes with 240 engravings of the monuments of Rome. Among his students, there was Giovanni Battista Piranesi. Vasi's goal was to represent the Rome of his time. Vasi studied architecture as well so that he was able to represent the monuments of Rome with precision and in much detail. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history.
