These illustrations, ‘Minnehaha’ and ‘Chief Hiawatha,’ are two of the 16 color illustrations by Harrison Fisher and published in the 1906 book, ‘The Song of Hiawatha,’ with poems by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.’ The book was published by Bobbs-Merrill, Indianapolis. Provenance: This pair were purchased from an antique dealer in the late 1990s and framed in 1998, and gifted to a family member. - To validate authenticity, I asked the original framer, still in business, to open the frames to reveal the edges (see photos) indicating the prints originated from old publications; - These prints are 116 years old; - It is rare to find these two illustrations offered as a pair, with matching matting and custom, period-style frames.
