Hermine David, The Nativity, Ink & Watercolor, Early 20th Century

Chairish

$410

The Nativity is an ink and watercolor drawing realized by Hermine David. Hand- Signed on the left corner. Good condition except some foxing. Hermine David (1886-1970) was a French artist. She worked in a variety of media and styles, including watercolor, pastel, charcoal, drypoint, and lithography. She began studying at the École des Beaux-Arts in 1902 and later attended l’Académie Julian, becoming a regular exhibitor at the Salon des Femmes Peintres and Sculpteurs (“Hermine David”). Her paintings are often Post-Impressionist, many of them being landscapes done in watercolor, pastel, and charcoal. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution
