Part of a limited series of 50 pieces, this stunning aquatint depicts a blossoming dandelion, its thin yellow petals emerging from a dull, almost faded, background. This breathtaking effect is achieved by the combination of two complex and delicate printmaking processes - etching and aquatint - using chemical action to produce incised lines and sunken areas in a metal plate which then holds the applied ink and consequently presses it onto the Somerset Rag (100% cotton paper).
