Horacio Renteria Rocha (1912-1972) Revered painter from Mexico City. He started painting in the early 1930's and was quite accomplished and well known by the time of his death. Rocha painted in a primitive style focusing mostly on children from his native country. This Rocha painting is from the early 40's and features a lovely young girl with a basket of fish and vegetables in the kitchen. The girl has charming braids in her hair, gold earrings and necklace, red print blouse and blue skirt. A mischievous white cat has his paws in the bowl and pitcher. Deep brown background with luminous pops of red, blue and green. Lovely vintage primitive oil on canvas, mounted in a rustic wooden frame. Signed lower left.
