Horse and Carriage is a charcoal sketch made by the Hungarian artist Nicolas Czinober in the mid-20th century. The state of preservation is very good. The paper presents some small stains of the charcoal pencil on the lower left and on the central right. Nicolas Czinober is a painter, draftsman, and art restorer. After attending the Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest, he wins a scholarship to travel in Italy and in France, where he settles and spends most of his life. He becomes very famous as 16th-and-17th-century art conservator, especially of the works by the painter Jorge La Tour. Anyhow, this occupation did not prevent him from taking part in important art exhibitions and from realizing numerous paintings and drawings. The sketch Horse and Carriage is a beautiful artwork, probably drawn from real life, demonstrating the artist’s admirable draftsmanship in drawing, in immediate strokes, and in strongly expressive chiaroscuro. This artwork is shipped from Italy. Under existing legislation, any artwork in Italy created over 70 years ago by an artist who has died requires a licence for export regardless of the work’s market price. The shipping may require additional handling days to require the licence according to the final destination of the artwork.
