Howard Warsaw The Red Apple on a Kitchen Table- Still Life Oil painting-c1950s oil painting on canvas -Signed circa 1950/60s frame size 19 x 16" canvas size 18 x 15" Artist Biography (1920 - 1977) Howard Warshaw was active/lived in New York. He is known for expressionist, graphics, mural. Born in New York City where he studied at the Pratt Institute, Art Students League, and the National Academy of Design, Howard Warshaw settled in California and became a professor of art at the University of California in Santa Barbara. His preferred media were acrylics and offset lithography, and he originated a graduate program in offset lithography. According to David Kalbach, former student of the artist, "Howard Warshaw was an Assistant Professor at the University of California, Santa Barbara campus during the '60's and I believe, the late 50's. As a muralist, he completed large murals within the dining commons for the campus dorms. These murals were based on the life of Homer's Iliad & The Odyssey. Howard would refer to Goya's works in his teachings and would tell his students that he was highly influenced by Goya's works. A beautiful piece that will add to your décor!
