Djupriany (Born 1929) is active/lives in Indonesia. An Indonesian aborigine, he is the adopted son of Ernest Detjenzje. Around 1950 he entered a painting competition with his painting called Alama Indonesia (our beautiful motherland), and succeeded in winning the first prize. Moreover, he received a note of praise from Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt. In 1956, he participated in another painting competition in Jakarta with a painting called Bunga Mawar (the Rose Tattoo), and again he gained the first prize. His paintings are much admired and appreciated: many of them belong to President Soeharto's and Mrs. Tien Soeharto's collection. Several others have been sent abroad to East-Asia, Latin-America, USA, and to the Museum Kastell Genhoes Oud Valkenburg (Limburg, The Netherlands). Information courtesy of Jackie Heinl.
