A lyrical watercolor of flowers informally arranged in two vases and contrasted against a lilac and purple background. Signed lower left and lower right, 'Ament'; additionally stamped verso with certification of authenticity. Winner of the Prix Othon Friesz, Ament first studied at the Chouinard Art Institute and, subsequently, in Paris with André L’Hote at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière. She exhibited widely and with success, including at The Salon d'Automne (1954), The Salon Des Artes Decoratifs, Museum of Modern Art, Paris, (1955), the San Francisco Museum of Art and the Los Angeles County Museum. A long-time member of the Carmel Art Association, Janet Ament is listed in all relevant art reference works.
