Itzchak Tarkay—"noon At The Cafe #9"—original Unique Watercolor & Mixed Media, 2005, With Coa & Appraisal

Chairish

$2,850

An original and unique work by Itzchak Tarkay (Serbia/Israel, 1935–2015), one of the most beloved and widely collected figurative artists of the late 20th and early 21st centuries. This is not a print or serigraph—the Park West Gallery Certificate of Authenticity explicitly designates this as a unique work from the collection of the artist. "Noon at the Cafe #9" (2005) depicts a warm gathering of women at cafe tables, rendered in Tarkay's instantly recognizable style—fluid ink draftsmanship infused with luminous watercolor washes and his signature jewel-toned palette of turquoise, saffron, coral, and green. The composition showcases the full range of his figurative vocabulary: relaxed feminine figures, richly patterned textiles, Mediterranean interior architecture, and an atmosphere of unhurried conviviality. Medium: Watercolor, drawing, and mixed media on wove paper. Signed in ink lower right. Presented in an ornate carved and gilded frame in excellent condition. Image size: 16" x 20½" Framed size: 29" x 33" Includes Park West Gallery Certificate of Authenticity (Registration No. 148746.0000) and Park West Gallery Appraisal dated August 2005, appraised retail replacement value $5,500. Executed on Arches Aquarelle, the premier French cotton rag watercolor paper, as confirmed by the manufacturer's embossed watermark in the lower margin.
