Japanese eagle painting on gold paper from the Edo period or perhaps Meiji period (19th century). This painting is signed and stamped in the front and has a seal on the backside. Clearly painted by a highly skilled master artist of the time with incredible execution. The lichen details on the tree branch are vividly depicted as well as the dark residues on the leaves. Artwork is mounted on a wooden board and the backside is completely covered with an olive-colored cloth which is also visible on the edges. It's highly possible that this piece was originally part of a screen or fusuma but I'm not completely certain.
