Jean-Michel Basquiat was a highly influential American artist who rose to prominence in the 1980's as a leading figure of the Neo-Expressionist movement. On the reverse side of the painting; bears the initials "JMB" with a crown above. An identifying label affixed to the upper right corner on the reverse reads: “Jean Michel Basquiat, Acrylic on board, 13.5 x 17.5 inches, I60.” Provenance: The work originates from a private Vermont collection assembled by an avid collector of Andy Warhol, Robert Rauschenberg, and Jean-Michel Basquiat. Upon the collector’s passing, the larger works with full written provenance were consigned to major auction houses. The provenance for this piece is verbal and would require further authentication. Accordingly, it is offered and sold in the manner of, or style of Jean-Michel Basquiat.
