53.75”W x 30.5”H Excellent condition, Lithograph in colors printed on thick smooth white paper, Unframed. A special collector's piece, this powerful X-Large format original poster was produced on the occasion of Jean-Michel Basquiat's major exhibition at the Chiostro del Bramante in Rome in 2002. The featured work, El Gran Espectaculo (The Nile), painted in 1983 when Basquiat was just 22 years old, is widely regarded as one of the greatest and most significant masterpieces of his short but explosive career. With extraordinary ambition and visceral energy, Basquiat distills in his singular visual language the story of the Black diaspora across the grand stage of world history — from the Memphis of the Pharaohs to Memphis, Tennessee. The whole "Grand Spectacle," rendered on an epic scale. Originally owned by the gallerist Enrico Navarra, the work later entered the private collection of Valentino Garavani, where it remained for over eighteen years before being sold at Christie's in May 2023. This exceptional quality X-Large format vintage poster was produced in collaboration with Galerie Enrico Navarra and printed by LEM Milan — a studio renowned for its premium lithography and museum-quality fine art printing.
