Antique print China titled 'Peking'. Old print depicting a view of Bejing in China with its ramparts. On the left a pagoda. This print originates from the Latin edition of Nieuhof's work titled 'Legatio batavica ad magnum Tartariæ chamum Sungteium (\.)'. Artists and Engravers: Johan / Jan / Johannes Nieuhof / Nieuhoff / Neuhof (1618-1672) was a Dutch traveler who wrote about his journeys to Brazil, China and India. Condition: Good, toning and repair on folding line. Few small spots, please study image carefully. Date: 1668 Overall size: 38 x 31 cm. Image size: 32 x 21 cm. Antique prints have long been appreciated for both their aesthetic and investment value. They were the product of engraved, etched or lithographed plates. These plates were handmade out of wood or metal, which required an incredible level of skill, patience and craftsmanship. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker.
