Beautifully painted scene of an Egyptian scene of massive desert monuments, at the time of sunrise. Oil washes on wooden panel in the form of watercolor studies, which, though quick and cursory, convey a full sense of the light and air of the space, a Luminist sense of the scene. Terrific color and great composition of the scene. Signed to the lower left corner. No date, but roughly a 1890-1910 painting. The measurements are 15" by 15" for the panel, and the frame is 20" by 20".
