This artwork "Banana Market" c.1960 is a watercolor on paper by noted British/American artist Jonathan Hartley Folliot Scott, 1914-1995 It is signed at the lower left corner by the artist. The artwork size is 19 x 25 inches, framed is 29 x 33.75 inches. It is custom framed in a gold and black wooden frame, with gold color bevel and beige matting. The artwork is in excellent condition, the frame is in good condition. About the artist: Born in Bath, England on Oct. 30, 1914. Scott studied at the Heatherly School in London, Heymann School in Munich, Academie di Bella Arti in Florence, Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles, and with Armin Hansen in Carmel. He settled in Pasadena shortly after his marriage in 1938 to Virginia Steele whose collection of American art is held at the Huntington Art Gallery in San Marino, CA. In 1964 he moved to Taos, NM where he remained until his death on Jan. 16, 1995. Member: Laguna Beach AA; Taos AA; Calif. WC Society (pres. 1960); American WC Society (pres. 1962).
