Junko Matsushima, Open Sesame 3, 1980s, Lithograph, Framed

Chairish

$695

Expressive abstract lithograph from Japan by artist Junko Matsushima (born 1951), with a dynamic composition in black, silver-grey, fuchsia and cobalt blue. Dimensions (incl. frame): height 75 cm, width 64.5 cm, depth 2 cm. The print is titled “Open Sesame – 3”, numbered 7/50 and signed in pencil by Junko Matsushima. It is an original lithograph printed in a limited edition. The work is professionally framed in a slim metal frame with a wide off-white mount, which brings out the colours beautifully. On the reverse there is a label from Yokuseido Gallery (養清堂画廊). It states that acid-free, neutral board was used for the mount, backing and corner supports, so the lithograph is presented in a conservation-friendly way. The lithograph and mount are in very good condition; the frame shows only minor signs of age. Thanks to the hanging cord on the back, the piece is ready to hang straight away. A powerful graphic artwork that works equally well in a minimalist or eclectic interior, adding a subtle, contemporary reference to Japan to any space. Junko Matsushima (松島淳子) is a Japanese graphic artist / printmaker, born in 1951, who is best known for her lithographs. She appears regularly in the context of the CWAJ Print Show (College Women’s Association of Japan), an important Tokyo exhibition for contemporary Japanese printmaking.
