$683

Woman Figure is an original watercolor drawing on ivory-colorated paper by Karl Hanny (1879-1972). In excellent conditions. Passepartout dimension: 40 x 30 cm. Not signed. Karl Hanny (1879-1972): Swiss sculptor, decorator and painter, born June 13, 1879 and died April 12, 1972. After studying in Germany, he perfected his skills in Auguste Rodin's studio around 1903 then executed bronzes and medals. He is known for his sculptures and monuments of Bern, Bozingen, St. Gallen and his interior and exterior decorations. His serious work in which wood holds an important place reflects, in its beginnings, influences of Jugendstil then it turns towards expressionism. It is represented in the museums of Bern, St. Gallen, Zurich and Munich. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution
