A very fine pair of orientalist oil paintings of middle eastern street scenes- displayed in elaborate period giltwood frames. Painted by Austrian Artist Karl Kaufmann (1843-1901) signed with his pseudonym H. Carnier-lower right. He is a known very fine collectible artist. Provenance-assembled from a former family home-the Edith Hale Harkness estate in Maryland the Harkness family was among America's first society philanthropic families as financiers to Rockefeller and Flagler to start the Standard Oil Corporation.
