Katherine Ottesen 1966 "Cyclamen" Oil Painting

Chairish

$485

Katherine Ottesen (1909 - 2001) was an accomplished and innovative California artist whose gallery shows included the prominent Thomas Bartlett Gallery in St. Helena. California. This painting was done around the same period as Ottesen's best-known work "Mariposa Lilies & Diogenes Lanterns" which was selected for the Summer White House in San Clemente and pictured in the December 1969 issue of Architectural Digest. My mother acquired "Cyclamen" in 1969. Beautifully framed - the outer frame is mottled gold with simple decorative ornaments in the corners, the top, bottom and sides. The inner frame is a narrow wood stained, simple strip; there is a linen mat with a thin gold strip of wood. The painting features rich textures and a lovely combination of colors and shadowing. It is equally bold against a light background or on a darker wall (see photos). Shipping will include insurance
