This is just a great original piece. One of two works I recently acquired by listed american artist volney robbins crosswell jr. Crosswell was a graduate of dartmouth (class of 1944) and also attended mass college of art. He went on to write and illustrate books in the 1960s and 1970s. I have found one example of his work in the hood museum of art at dartmouth. I bought this painting and the other one by the artist because of the subject matter more than anything. Both are wonderful visuals of some sort of labor strike back in the early 1970s. This one is a wonderful view of a picket line and a group of protesters outside a group of warehouses. Wonderful imagery. Great color and composition. Oil on canvas measuring 24 x 32 inches. Painting is unsigned but definitely by crosswell. Overall excellent condition. Great original color. Really an outstanding original work. Unframed. Really a great period work of a unique topic. Check my store for the other work by crosswell of what is probably the same labor strike. The artist did illustrate many books and I imagine they both came from the same book but I have been unable to find what book these are from.
