This large scale painting by ES Melfi depicts the flight between this world and the next. Plaster was used on the fabric base to create a textural surface. Vintage threads were added to resemble angel wings that have movement. A small metal finding with a reflective center was placed on the angel figure to represent the heart. This painting can be interpreted in other ways. People have told me they see a city scape or a mountainous region. One of the reasons I love abstract art is that the viewer can make a very personal interpretation of what they see. The subtle color palette allows this piece to be hung almost anywhere and the personal message it depicts will resonate differently with anyone who sees it.
