Large, vintage mid century cubist painting painted by NYC/NJ artist Leonard Alberts. Oil on canvas, presented in a stained wood strip frame and wired to hang. Circa mid to late 20th C. From the estate of the artist and his wife. Leonard Alberts (1924-2010) was a NYC and later Alpine, NJ based artist who is known for his modernist and cubist paintings. Alberts was a student of the Cooper Union in New York City where he met his wife and fellow artist Olivia Koopalethes. The couple lived and worked together, travelling to Paris after the end of World War II where they studied under the tutelage of Fernand Leger and Andre L'hote from 1949-1952. They returned to NYC after the birth of their daughter and later settled in Alpine, New Jersey where both artists lived and painted through the remainder of their lives.
