Edwin Ellis (1842-1895) was a British painter known for coastal scenes. This small oil on board painting shows a series of red-sailed ships moving over waves at sunset, a pretty coast in the background. Signed E. Ellis in the corner and beautifully framed. The painting itself measures approximately 2-5/8 inches tall and 5-1/4 inches wide, framed in gold painted wood to a size of 5-5/8 inches tall and 8-3/8 inches wide.
