Late 20th Century Traditional Victorian Blue Floral Botanical Gold Framed Reproduction Prints, A Pair

Chairish

$650

Believed to be inspired by 18-19th century European botanical engravings by Edwin Dalton Smith and Samuel Holden, prominent artists during the Victorian Era, specifically 1820-1840's. The art on the left is known as a "Rembrandt or Bizarre Tulip" known for its distinctive feathered and flamed patterns, along with the art on the right representing a "Primula or Polyanthus". Even though the pair are reproductions they hold true to the botanical illustrations of that time period, yet modernized in their makeup of wide cream mottled matting, a silver gray beveled inset with a one inch in shades of blue marbled border surrounding each flower. The colors throughout are consistent with silver blue gray, navy, indigo and light blue. The gilded frame in gold paint encapsulates a classical, neoclassical style. Each of the prints are behind glass with hanging hardware included on reverse side for ease of hanging. This pair would look fantastic amongst a traditional Victorian, English Country, or shabby chic styled home decor, or for the one who loves botanical illustrations.
