“Le Venus” by 20th Century, Alsatian artist Robert Pfeiffer. A 70’s ode to Botticelli in bold primary color. This oil on canvas is mythological, figurative, botanical and abstract all at once, a perfect example of the mix of styles in Pfeiffer's early works. Finished with a thin, painted wood frame in cream, it measures 23.5 x 28.75 inches framed. Signed "Pfeiffer 71" in the upper left corner. Robert Pfeiffer (1943-2025) studied at the École des Arts Décoratifs (HEAR) in Strasbourg and the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, earning national diplomas in both engraving and painting. His early works heavily featured classical mythology, animals, and botany. Later paintings transitioned into bold, colorful, and highly decorative abstract and expressionist pieces. During his lifetime, Pfeiffer showed work in dozens of group or solo exhibitions throughout France.
