He specialized in cityscapes, seascapes, rural scenes and still life florals done in the wet-into-wet watercolor painting style illustrated in this painting. Suzuki ’s bold, loosely painted and brightly colored works won numerous awards including two from the Society of Western Artists show at the De Young Museum in San Francisco. He served on the Berkeley Art Commission and was recognized by the City of Berkeley in 2010. A peace activist, Suzuki was inducted in 2011 into the Community Hall of Fame at La Peña Cultural Center in Berkeley, which recognizes cultural activism for social change.
