The geometric lines seen in this original abstract painting take inspiration from the traditional tiles, or 'azulejos', seen in Portugal. Ruth Philo's paintings explore abstractaction through colour, light and surface, often drawing inspiration from the artist's everyday life. She mixes materials from pigments to things picked up on her travels on a variety of surfaces such as canvas, linen and wooden panels.
