Limited Edition Signed and Numbered Print, 305/450, by Native American Artist, Paladine Roye, dated 1987. Preserving the traditional customs and beliefs of his people is an overriding concern for Paladine Roye. He is a member of the Ponca tribe from White Eagle, Oklahoma. This Limited Edition print draws on the traditions and history of his people. The winter scene is colored with the soft grays and oranges of a snow covered mountain trail at sunset. A "travois" is an A-frame structure pulled by an animal - usually a horse - to move heavy loads over land. Here a broken travois creates a dangerous situation for the people using it and slows their progress up a mountain trail. Framed in a silver tone metal frame this numbered print measures 23" wide by 37" high and 1" deep.
