An original watercolor painting on paper by Alexander Macpherson, Scottish artist 1904-1970, "Loch Ranza Bay, August 1924" scene of the rolling meadows and fields and winding roads, houses are visible in the landscape all the way to the bay, 10 3/4" x 15", signed A. Macpherson, 1924 in pencil in the lower left corner front, inscribed - Loch Ranza Bay, Aug 1924 on the original painting backing board (discarded), CA number 3913, CA purchased from a British auction house spring 2023. The painting has a 1/8" hole in the paper in the water area, top left quadrant. The work has been removed from the old backing board, cleaned, matted in White Museum Matboard, gold lined, Conservation Clear Glass, museum backing, framed in 3/4" Newcomb Macklin black over gold classical moulding. The location is Loch Ranza, Arran, looking across the Kilbrannen sound towards Skipness in Kintyre. Macpherson was elected to The Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Water Colours in 1932 1nd to The Scottish Society of Artists in 1946. He exhibited works at the Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts, the Royal Scottish Academy, the Royal Academy and the Walker Art Gallery.
